Materials Handler

This incumbent will perform all functions relative to the Storage and Distribution Section of the Logistics Service Line by:
o Receiving and checking shipments from vendors by comparing numbers, condition of packages received, completing freight bills, unpacking containers and comparing contents with specific identification or stock number and nomenclature, verification of quantity and quality ordered.
o Placing of total supply support stocked items and office supply stocked items into the proper storage locations on a first in first out basis, with proper marking of and protective storage of perishable or security items and the distribution of items from the warehouse to using services.
o Being well-versed and able to use a variety of automated data processing programs including, VA generic inventory packages (both expendable operating supply inventory and all phases of non-expendable equipment programs).
o Utilizing various means of software such as Word and Excel for the tracking, recording and documenting of turned in products, ADP recycle tracking, GSA reporting registers and various other means of tracking involved in the equipment control processes.
o Utilizing nowledge regarding commercial trade practices and government regulations in handling freight shipments and proper methods of shipping and transport of valuable government assets and hazardous products.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
